A few weeks ago, as RH came in from checking the mail, he sang “I’m about to make someone really happy!”
I, having had a pretty rough day and being incredibly skeptical that a piece of mail could reverse my grumpy mood, asked, “Did someone send us a check for a million dollars?”
He handed over a postcard, which looked like another sales flier from Macy’s. Except this one was different. It said “Look who’s here!” and had a photo of my absolute favorite designer, Rachel Roy.
I squealed like a 12-year-old girl who’d just been given front row seats One Direction.
And backstage passes.
I swoon over every piece in her collections when they debut, and about 80% of my closet is from the RACHEL Rachel Roy collection. Seriously. See for yourself on “my closet” Pinterest board.
I guess that’s why I got the postcard inviting me to see her launch the RACHEL Rachel Roy fall collection at my local Macy’s store.
The evening of the event, I showed up in one of my favorite RACHEL Rachel Roy dresses, along with some of my favorite jewelry from the collection. I nibbled on hors d’oeuvres and listened to the cute DJ spin some tunes while I waited in line for my turn to meet Rachel.
When I finally got to chat with her and tell her how much I adore her, she was so very humble, kind and down-to-earth. She signed a postcard for me and took some photos. I proceeded to buy a couple of pieces from the fall collection to wear to work. I’ve already received compliments on them!
And to top off my dreamy Rachel Roy experience, just a few days later, I snagged one of the dresses from her Resort 2013 collection using a Rue La La credit I’d been hanging onto. Score!
Here’s a photo of Rachel wearing the dress on Project Runway. Bella!
If you had a chance to meet one of your fashion or style icons, who would it be?
