A few weeks ago (rather, the very day they came out), RH and I got new iPhones.
Yes, we waited in line for hours to get our grubby little hands on those shiny, beautiful gadgets from heaven. In fact, we waited in two lines, separately (don’t ask…it’s a long story). When we finally got called into the Apple Store to purchase our phones, we were pretty psyched. We had both been living with Treos for two years and they just were not cutting the mustard any longer. We both had iPod touches that we loved to usewhen we had a wifi connection. So after taking a look at the Palm Pre (that in-store experience could be its own blog post…it was not pretty), we decided that we would become that couple.
That couple with matching iPhones.
Actually, our phones don’t match. He got a black phone and mine is white. But we have a lot of the same apps on them and we use them in very similar ways. We both spend a lot of time on them for e-mail and Web surfing, and we both enjoy reading publications like The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal using their respective iPhone apps. I also enjoy playing games (I was seriously addicted to Sally’s Spa for a while there), and he likes watching videos. We tend to whip them out after placing our order at dinner to make sure we’re caught up on the latest tweets (which we’re now doing via Twitterific again, by the way, since TweetDeck kept dropping tweets like crazy.)
I’m sure we look like total goobers when we’re both scrolling and flicking away the minutes spent in line at the grocery store, or when we’re texting each other from less than 100 feet away, but hey…I think one of the reasons we fell for each other was that our nerdy sides got all excited about having someone else to be so nerdy with.
I love my husband, and I love our iPhones. If that means we’re now that couple, I’m okay with that!
