I heart weekends

I really love weekends. They don’t last long enough or come fast enough, though. Work has been insanely busy lately, so I really look forward to the little two-day break every week. Recently, though, RH and I have spent most of our weekends working on his house. We’re trying to consolidate households, so we’re going through his house and basement (which has doubled as a storage unit for me and mom) and preparing for the yard sale event of the year.

This past Saturday, we took a little break from all the weekend work to drive into the North Georgia mountains and see the fall color. RH likes to do that every year, and this was pretty much the one Saturday that didn’t have some other commitment to get in the way of a weekend drive. We drove north through Helen (horrible traffic!) and landed at Tallulah Gorge. It was a bit chillier than I thought it would be, but it was really pretty. We walked down and then up nearly 1,000 steps to see a small, rather unimpressive waterfall. I guess that’s to be expected given our extended drought.

We also stopped at the Tallulah Point Overlook, a place that RH remembers from his childhood.

We drove straight from the mountains to meet up with LS, WF and KC for dinner at our neighborhood eatery Six Feet Under. We were all hungry and unwilling to wait the hour and a half we were quoted, so we left and went to Holy Taco instead, where we had a great meal but less than stellar service and spent five minutes trying to figure out exactly what message to send with the tip.

After dinner, the girls met out at the bar downstairs at Trois, a really beautiful bar and restaurant in Midtown. KC was helping some friends celebrate their recent passing of the bar exam. It was really funny when we noticed that LS, WF, and I were wearing very similar jewel-toned tops, and all the lawyers and law school students were wearing black. I guess law school does something to affect your personal style…?

dressed in jewel tones...we didn't plan this.

Apparently law school students are all very pretty, too.

When I got home, RH had bought me flowers. It was a really sweet surprise, and I’m still enjoying their gorgeousness!

It was a great Saturday. We spent more time on Sunday and yesterday (a bank holiday) working on the house. I really hope we make some cash at the yard sale! Wish us luck!
