I’m crunching numbersnumbers for tents and chairs and tables and linens.
We are this close to deciding on a wedding venue. The front-runner isn’t perfect, but none of them are. I think if we quadrupled our budget, we could probably get a little closer to “perfect,” but that ain’t happenin’.
I’m at the point where I’m ready to just pick one of our favorites and figure out the rest. What if it rains? We’ll figure it out. What if it’s blazing hot? We’ll figure it out. Can’t do a rehearsal until 9 p.m. the night before? You guessed it…we’ll figure it out.
On another note, I played a little game with RH last night. It was actually really helpful. I pulled up a slew of Firefox tabs filled with beautiful inspiration boards from the awesome blog snippet and ink. Then I did my best imitation of an eye doctor, asking him if he preferred “one, or two?” as I flipped back and forth between two tabs.
“One, or two?”
I explained that he should be looking at the boards as if they were mood boards, a creative agency reference I knew he would get.
We worked to quickly eliminate several of the boards, and then I had him explain what he liked about the one he seemed to prefer the most. It was a great way to get a better idea of what he wants our day to be like in terms of look and feel. It’s really hard to get him to articulate things he likes (although he’s pretty good at talking about what he doesn’t like), so this exercise was incredibly valuable!
Thanks, RH, for being such a good sport!
