last-minute preparations

Well, I guess packing wouldn’t typically fall into the “last-minute” category, but it does this time. I haven’t even started.

Today has been a crazy day. Work was nuts—to be expected, I suppose, before leaving for two weeks. Lots to wrap up and hand off. I probably missed a few things, but my team is great so I’m sure everything will be fine.

After work, RH and I met JW at Perimeter to drop off Kona. K-dog will be staying with JW and his family for the next two weeks. Unfortunately, JW has to go out of town for work next week, leaving LK with three dogs and a 16-month-old. My heart goes out to her!

Then we went to Holy Taco for a quick, cheap bite. I saw an old, old friend who was working there. We chatted for a few minutes and it turns out that she owns the place. Cool!

After a quick run to Target, it was over to Mom’s to bring her plants to my place, have her sign her passport, and weigh her suitcase. Good thing we did, because she was about three pounds over the limit. So instead of having one 53-pound bag, she’ll now have two bags that weigh even more. I’m not quite sure I understand that policy.

Now, I’m dealing with a mess of a situation with my work laptop. I noticed tonight while checking webmail one last time that my password expires in 13 day. Not wanting to have to deal with the fiasco that would surely result from an expired password, I am trying to change it over the VPN. It’s not going so well. Fingers crossed that I don’t have to give my laptop away for three days when I get back to the office.

So I’m off to pack! And finish doing laundry, and test out my new CF card, and load up my iPod, and…at some point tonight, I hope to sleep. :)
