I’m a little late in blogging this…but if you follow me on twitter, flickr or Facebook, you’ve already heard the news by now.
If you look closely at the Scrabble board, you will notice one set of letters that looks suspiciously like an illegal move…or, wait a minute…it’s a proposal!
Yep, RH surprised me in the middle of a Scrabble game Thursday night by popping the question. He laid down seven tiles to spell MARRYME and dropped to one knee, said a bunch of incredibly sweet stuff that I can barely remember because it’s such a blur of tears and laughter, asked me to marry him, and gave me one helluva diamond ring.
I of course said yes, so now we’re engaged. Yay!
We had already planned to leave Friday morning for a long Labor Day weekend on Jekyll Island. So we’ve had a wonderful time over the past few days biking, playing in the ocean, and just relaxing. I’ve even had a chance to refer to him as my fiancé. That was fun.
I can’t imagine having a better partner for the rest of my life. He makes me laugh, he knows me better than anyone, he takes really good care of me, and he helps me with my mom — something that is not always easy even for me, her own daughter. I love spending time with him, I love that we’re both total nerds, and I love that I knew we were made for each other back in May 2007, after we’d only been dating a few months. I’ve only grown more sure of it over the past year and a half.
I could launch into the twists and turns that brought us together, but I’ll just say that I truly believe that everything happens for a reason. I’m so glad life brought RH to me. I couldn’t be happier, and I truly feel blessed to have him in my life. The fact that he loves me as much as I love him is so overwhelming sometimes.
I guess that’s what love is.
Congrats to us! I’m still glowing from the perfect proposal from the perfect man for me.
