See what I mean??

April 23, 2008 - 7:18 pm Raul - Hello Sabrina, You don't know me but I came across your blog and I found it very interesting (especially your 100 things). Anyway, I have always been very interested in setting my own Blog. I just don't know how to about this. I thought why not ask you since your trained in html and are PMP Certified, I just assume your would be a good authority on all this stuff. Sorry for being so direct but I guess thats what this is all about (internet). I particularly like how you have all these pop-up windows by SnapShots they are really cool amd what is del.icio.us & RSS I have seen this before? Anyway, let me know if you can help me or give me some direction how to go about setting up my own blog. Thank you so much. -Raul (rcastaneda@hlpusd.k12.ca.us) P.S. love the pictures of the baby goats....and I love listening to Last-FM link you have on your blog, its an awsome website!

April 27, 2008 - 6:57 pm me - Raul, my best advice can be summed up in a few points:

  • Host your site somewhere that has an automatic installation option for Wordpress. (I'm using Wordpress as my blogging platform and love love love it.) While installing Wordpress from scratch on any server is pretty straightforward, it's much easier to click a button, set some variables, and let 'er rip.
  • Once you've installed Wordpress, there are endless plugins that you can add to your blog. They're really easy to set up. I've actually gotten way behind on upgrading my blog version and keeping the versions of my plugins up-to-date. You can also incorporate RSS feeds into various areas of your blog. Everything you see on my blog (from the last.fm feed to the SnapShots image preview thingies) is some form of a plug-in or RSS feed.
  • Here's a great resource for you as someone new to Wordpress (and blogging).
I hope this helps! Good luck to you!
