modern home

It’s been strange seeing the effects of a downtown tornado in my city. I am very thankful to have missed any damage, unlike one of my former coworkers who was hit by both tornadoes and hid in a closet with his dog both times. He’s got a tarp over his roof…I’m glad it wasn’t any worse.

I went to an open house for a modern home in my neighborhood this evening. It was a little small, and the finishes weren’t as nice as I would have expected for the price ($529,000), but I totally fell in love with the roll-up glass door that—garage door style—totally opened up the living room/kitchen area to a very chill outdoor area, complete with an outdoor fireplace.

My interest in modular housing has been renewed recently after running across a bunch of articles on “granny flats” while searching for some resources for Mom. I just love the idea of customizing my own home but not having to start from scratch. I also like the spacious, modern style they usually have, with lots of clean lines and plenty of natural light indoors.

I’m now off to dream about a fancy schmancy modular home!
