screwing is hard work

Okay, people…get your minds out of the gutter.

I found out tonight what the hardest part of installing elfa is — at least for weaklings like me. It’s screwing in wood screws. I started installing the top track in my office closets, and while I got to bore nice big 3/8″ holes into the walls and have fun banging drywall anchors in for the bedroom closets, I hit wood in the office walls. This means that for the majority of the screws that hold the top track to the wall, I have to hand tighten them most of the way. And I have zero upper body strength, so it’s hard! I gave up on it tonight and will let my arms rest overnight. Seriously, it’s that difficult to get these screws in. And of course I’m being anal about it and want the wood screws to go in as flush as the drywall screws for aesthetic reasons. Woe is me.

I finally got caught up on a little TV tonight. I watched this week’s Heroes episode, and it was really good! I can’t wait for it to return next month. I think I may actually like this show better than LOST right now. And that’s saying a lot, because I’m a huge LOST fan.

I booked airline tickets to go to Texas tonight. March 30 marks the one-year anniversary of my dad’s death. It’s kind of insane — I can’t believe it’s already been a year. It’s Korean tradition to visit the gravesite every year on the anniversary, so Mom and I will be headed to Texas in a few weeks. I kinda think it’s weird to commemorate my dad’s death like that, rather than celebrate his life, but it’s important to Mom so we’ll go.

I’ll be returning to Texas in April for WF’s baby shower. It’s so amazing that she’s having a baby! I can’t wait to see her pregnant belly in person. I think we’re going to try to do a maternity photo shoot on the beach…that will be awesome!

Speaking of the beach, I want to try to take Mom to the beach this summer. I think we could both use a little relaxation in a pretty place soon!

March 12, 2007 - 5:42 pm me - Thanks, Jersey Guy...I will try that!!

March 12, 2007 - 5:28 pm Jersey Guy - Keep a cake of soap handy when you are doing the install. Screw the screws into the soap before you screw them into the walls and they will glide in. R.

March 8, 2007 - 2:17 pm me - I hope I didn't disappoint you.
