[...] In other big news, I got a new camera! And it’s not just any camera. I’ve finally made the leap to a full-frame sensor dSLR. And since I’m a very loyal Canon user, I got the camera I’ve been dreaming of for many moons now…the 5D Mark II. Because my walkabout lens for the 30D won’t fit the new camera, I also had to get a lens, so I got the kit lens and have my hands on L glass for the first time. [...]

[...] Meanwhile, I woke up later that morning trying to decide if I wanted to go out for one last time or not. I was leaning heavily towards sleeping in after the celebration the night before, but when I looked out the window and saw quarter-sized snowflakes just dumping on the village, I knew I had to get out there. I geared up in record time and asked for late checkout on my way to the slopes. Apparently everyone else was still hungover because the gondola line was non-existent and the runs were empty. So it was fresh tracks for me and just a handful of other people! It was actually really hard to ride on the powder…it was so heavy and dense that I kept getting stuck and toppling over at low speed. I met a guy from Kentucky—I recognized his southern accent—who tried to give me tips on leaning back and keeping up my speed). It was fun though…I’m so glad I went out there one last time. The only bad thing about it happened when I was getting one last shot of me and my snowboard. A kind tourist took this photo and, as she handed my camera back, I heard the lens grind to a halt. Yep, it broke. I wish I had been able to take more photos of the snow…it really looked like a shaken snowglobe the way snowflakes were falling and swirling. [...]

Congrats, Ida! I'm so glad that I could help influence the bf's decision in a small way. Have fun with it -- it's an awesome little cam!
