sh*t

I met up with an old friend tonight and we caught up. I haven’t seen him in ages. We used to be roommates for a period of time in college, and we were in a band together. He found the three songs we recorded recently and is going to clean them up a bit. I’m sure it will be really interesting to hear the songs, considering it’s been over a decade since we recorded them!

When I got home tonight, I was all set to get a run in. By the way, I have to have music when I run. No ifs, ands, or buts about it. I simply cannot do the treadmill thing without some really good music pumping in my ears. So I was going to put some new stuff on my iPod when…my little nano froze. It completely froze up. At first, I looked for a tiny reset button or something but did a search and found out the cryptic button combination you have to do to reset it. The problem is, I’ve reset it a couple of times, but it keeps freezing in the same place everytime it restarts.

It sucks!!

I might have to take it to the Apple Store or something…I don’t really know what else to do. I’m thinking maybe the battery is really low, and that’s why this is happening? Actually, that’s what I’m hoping…I’m really hoping that if I let it charge all night in this frozen state, maybe tomorrow the problem will just magically go away.

EDIT: It’s working now! I decided to give it another reset. Yay…maybe the battery really was that low. Which means that I still can’t run with it right now. I might bike instead and try to read a book — I could use a bit of an escape.

Oh — I’ve been trying desperately to remember the name of a band I loved in high school. I’ve tried doing random searches of the iTunes Music Store by genre and time, but I’ve been at a total loss. Well tonight, when I was hanging out with my friend, he randomly mentioned the exact name of the band I’ve been thinking about! It’s the Ocean Blue. I used to love their stuff.

Anyway, I’m going to try to workout and trick myself into thinking that I’ve had more for dinner tonight than a cup of green tea. It’s amazing what stress will do for your diet! :/

January 16, 2006 - 12:15 am me - Lynn, glad you found a fix. And I would rain much thanks upon you if you could satisfy my Ocean Blue fix.  :) Gustavo -- fortunately, I think it was just a case of the battery being really dead. I will keep an eye out for any other weirdness...but so far, I love my nano! Larissa, sometimes I find it excruciatingly hard to workout. Sunday morning, for instance, I got on my bike for my hour-long Sunday morning cross-train cycling session. I was ready to quit after five minutes. Twelve minutes? I was so over it. Honestly, my inspiration for getting through the entire hour was one of my new favorite shows, "The Biggest Loser." I figure if they can train and diet and look as great as they do at the end, I can push myself a little harder to lose these last few pounds and get in shape. It's not like I'm trying to lose 100 lbs, so I'm trying not to whine about it....  :P

January 14, 2006 - 12:51 pm Larissa - You are so not alone in needing--and I mean needing w/ a capital N--music when you run. I'm the exact same way. And I've been stressed to the point of no appetite lately too. Weird -- what's going 'round? Anyway, you're a better woman than I, I'm so impressed that you're on the workout track. Setting a good example for stress-cases like me who turn into part of the upholstery instead of jumping on the treadmill.

January 14, 2006 - 3:54 am Gustavo - ...I would say return it. I have the regular iPod and it's never done anything like that...then again maybe the nano is different... As for the app to get the songs off of the ipod I highly recommend podplus (It's free). Unfortunately for me, my comp is too old so I basically also use my iPod as a storage device for all my music since it doesnt fit on my comp.

January 13, 2006 - 8:52 pm Lynn - Never mind about the app. I found a way to copy directly to iTunes. Music will be coming your way.

January 13, 2006 - 8:31 pm Lynn - Funny story... T & I helped a guy get some songs on his new Nano, and one of the albums he loaded is Ocean Blue. I put them on my Nano from her laptop, but now I can't transfer them to my PC because iTunes is overly controlling. Do you know of a free app that lets me get songs off the Pod (for PC). There's a set of Ocean Blue songs in it for you :)
