Why is it that three-day weekends still feel too short??
Did I mention what happened to my PowerBook? The display’s hinge broke on one side a little while ago. I was really upset about it, and it was all wobbly, but I decided I could live with it because the display still worked and I just can’t afford to get a new computer now, as much as I might like to. I got pretty used to it, but in Salt Lake City, the wires that were still threaded through the bottom of the display suddenly broke. The screen went black! Not good! I was in a panic and really, really unhappy. I started researching iBooks because they’re made from the same material as bulletproof glass.
I had purchased Apple Care for $349 when I bought the PowerBook, but I had read that it didn’t cover stuff like my problem…normal wear and tear. However, I figured it was worth a shot, so I took the laptop into my local Apple Store on Saturday. The guy at the Genuis Bar was actually really nice, and he told me that they could fix that under my Apple Care agreement. He even double-checked to make sure. I asked him about the ugly blue ink smear on my Apple logo, which I had tried to clean with no success. He took my laptop to the back and returned in a few minutes with a much whiter logo, but now the finish was a little off…part of it was shiny, and part of it was the original matte finish. Because he said he "made it worse," he added a note to my service request to have the Apple logo replaced.
It was a very weird feeling leaving the store without my PowerBook. It’s my baby! The good news is, my baby came back with a brand-new display…hooray! Guy picked it up for me last week while I was in Pittsburgh. It’s so nice to have it back.
And oh yeah…I totally want the new iPod Shuffle and Mac Mini. They are both so cute!
