    Thanks for stopping by sweetfrenchtoast!

I'm Sabrina, and I love sewing and creative DIY projects for a modern handmade life. Whether I'm sewing a new dress, baking a fresh twist on a classic dessert, or making my own barn door headboard, I'll share all the pain and glory right here on my sweet little blog. Enjoy!

So I’m sitting here in my home office, digitizing personal records like old paystubs and mortgage statements, eating a Zone-friendly bowl of apples, strawberries and cottage cheese, all topped with slivered almonds, and nursing my very, very sore feet.

The half marathon is this weekend, and the farthest I’d gone before tonight was only six miles. And I’ve only done that once. That means I’d pretty much only gone half the distance of the race. So tonight, I went nine miles. And although I really feel okay, my feet are very, very sore.

This weekend was very nice. The weather was perfect! Friday evening I took Kona down to Piedmont Park with Guy and we went for a nice long walk. Towards the end, we stopped by Smoothie King and I tried one of their new low-carb smoothies. Yuck!! It was so gross I could only take a few sips before tossing it. Oh well.

Saturday we tried to go run in the park again. Bad idea! I had only gone about a mile and a half before I started feeling the familiar sensation of fire running up my nose, snot running out of it, and huge sneezes tearing through me. Allergies suck. We cut the park visit short and I ran another few miles at home on the treadmill. I don’t know what I’m going to do this weekend if I have an allergy attack in Nashville. I want to finish and get my medal! So please think good antihistamine thoughts for me.

Sunday we went up to Lake Lanier and took Kona out on the boat. She was hanging onto me so hard that I have scratches on my thighs! She was a trooper though, as we were in a speed boat that slammed into the water whenever we ran into big waves. We stopped at a little beach and let her play with the waves and eat the wet sand before we headed to “Gay Cove” to meet a friend of mine from work, her girlie, and several of their friends. There were about six boats tied up next to each other, so we settled in behind them so a massive yacht could make their way through. There were several dogs there, and Kona swam for the first time! She was so cute and fast…I couldn’t tell if she liked it, though, or if she was just swimming for dear life.

All in all, it was a very fun weekend. I hope this weekend is fun and I don’t end up in a hospital in Nashville.:P

Tomorrow afternoon I’m headed to Houston as I have a class on Thursday at my company’s office in suburban Houston. I’m going to meet my friend Wendy for dinner at her place…I’m so excited to see her!

Guy’s made it over here, so I’ll end for now. Seriously though…if you know of any good anti-allergy or happy feet voodoo recipes, can you send them my way? Thanks!
