happy christmas eve eve

So I went to my massage guy tonight. I see a massage therapist who is also a licensed chiropractor, and he used to teach anatomy, so he knows every little muscle in the body. It’s wonderful, although it’s not for everyone. He has a room in a chiropractor’s office (he rarely does adjustments and instead focuses on massage)—so it’s not quite the luxurious spa experience you get at some places. He does play soothing music, dims the lights, and works you on a heated table, which is just divine. He’s really, really good, and I almost cried when he told me he was taking a teaching position this past fall and would be reducing the number of appointments he had available for massage. He’s teaching high school biology, and that wiped out his daytime availability, so I’m happy to get in once every five or six weeks.

Anyone else out there totally fall asleep during hardcore deep tissue massages? I can’t help it…it’ so relaxing and I can take a lot of pressure without feeling any pain.

It’s Christmas Eve eve, huh? Tomorrow night I’m going to dinner at Guy’s parents’ house. His mom and dad will of course be there, as will his little sister and her boyfriend. I first got to really hang with the gang on Thanksgiving, and they are all really nice and cool, so I’m looking forward to it. I’m not sure yet when Guy and I will be having our little gift exchange, but it may be tomorrow night if he decides to drive back into town after dinner.

I’m looking forward to giving him his gifts…we’ll see how he likes them. I know they won’t be as weird as the birthday gifts I got him…or at least, one of them. We talk about dreams a lot, and he had mentioned several times that he wanted a dream analysis book, so I got him one. The thing is, it sucked! It is so freaking negative about everything. Did you have a wonderful dream last night about sunshine and flowers and winning the lottery? It means you will soon have a death in the family. Oh, was your dream about falling in love and starting a beautiful family with someone magnificent? You will soon lose your job, your house, and then die of a horrible disease. I can’t count the times I felt I needed to apologize for that gift. Hopefully these will go over better, although he says he gets a kick out of it anyway. He’s a good guy, that Guy.

On another note, I want to update my acting headshot in early 2004, so I did some research on photographers and found one in Las Vegas that I like a lot. His prices are very reasonable, so I’m hoping it works out that I can shoot with him while I’m there in February. That means, however, that I really need to get on the ball about working out and getting in shape! I have some very clear ideas about what I want my next headshot to look like, what kind of wardrobe I want to take to the shoot, etc. Being in shape is a must. So I’m on a mission. I know, you’ve heard me say that before. But the first half marathon is in almost exactly four months and I haven’t run regularly in ages.

Don’t worry, I won’t let you down. :)

Happy holidays!
